Christmas Survey

Here is a fun Christmas Survey I found on another blog. I know it's after Christmas but I'm still blasting playing my music and am very much still in the Christmas spirit! (maybe it has something to do with the 29102983 inches of snow we have on the ground?? Or that it's still December?!?!)

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Uh Hot Chocolate DUH. Does anybody really love Egg Nog that isn't already hammered? Don't answer that.......

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just stick them under the tree?
Well, first off we don't do Santa. And they are all always wrapped :) Or stuck in a bag which still counts!

3. Colored lights or white?
White for my tree! We do have garland/mini trees outside which are white also. I'm not against colored, just for outside and not at my house. Ha. Maybe as the girls are older and have opinions (not that Hailey doesn't have a very strong one already at 3.5) we will get some colored ones :) Who knows!

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No, does anybody that isn't staring in a Hallmark Film??

5. When do you put your decorations up?
This year we did them on Thanksgiving night. I'm a big kid I couldn't wait anymore! But usually right after Thanksgiving. Depends on how much patience I have and how much work I want to do that day! Ha

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Oh so much! Christmas Eve (also my Dad's Birthday) we always eat Potato Soup (YUM-O) and some version of ham (ham sandwichs, plain ham and sides, etc). But I LOVE all the food! My Momma makes the most delicious strawberry fluff/jell-o stuff, oh it's my very very favorite! And I LOVE cranberry salad/jell-o (not from a can people, made with jell-o in it, nuts, apples, celery, marshmallows oh it's YUMMY! And no we don't have cranberry jell-o AND strawberry jell-o that is jell-o overload!) And green bean casserole, and corn casserole, stuffing! Yum I am hungry now! Ha.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
I think I was 3 or 4, and ALLLLLLLLL I wanted was a cabbage patch doll. I think it was the year they first came out so they were everywhere (i.e. the wii's of like 5 years ago). I wanted one SO BAD. But my poor parents couldn't find one anywhere. All the stores were SOLD OUT! So they finally found one. A Black African American BOY with a fro. In a blue leisure suit. Named Cameron. I LOVED that thing something fierce. Honestly it wasn't until I was about 13 I realized how weird it was that I had a boy cabbage patch. A black boy cabbage patch w/ a fro. But he was my buddy and I loved him and took him everywhere! My parents had extensive water damage time and time again in their basement and Cameron started to smell like mold so we had to throw him away a couple years ago :( Otherwise he would be waiting for my girls to play with! But seriously he was the best present, and now being a parent I know how expensive he was back then (we weren't rollin it the dough growing up) and all the work they went to find one just to make me shut up happy.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
We never did Santa. I never thought he brought our presents or anything. Which is exactly how it will be in my house. I was deathly afraid of Santa and NEVER sat on his lap. My Dad worked for a very large Insurance Co in Omaha and they went all out for their company holiday party, they hired a very real looking Santa and a Mrs Clause. Me and my sister would take turns sitting on Mrs Clause and wanted NOTHING to do w/ Santa. Ha. All the pictures of us from those parties Santa is just sitting there empty lapped smiling :)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yup all of um! We go to my parents and open presents, growing up we usually went to my aunts or my grandparents on Christmas day so it just worked to do them Christmas Eve. Now we just always do. Me and Steve started a tradition of staying home the 4 of us and doing OUR Christmas on Christmas morning. But I LOVE my family traditions!

10. How do you decorate your tree?
Hopefully without breaking anything?? I'm not sure what this ?? means??? We have a pre-lit tree, and a hodgepodge of ornaments. (although I am into silver/black/red balls! Looks awesome!) We have collected lots of fun ones from the girls, my sister usually gets them each a fun hallmark one, and I have a tradition of a picture ornament from each year Steve and I have been together! They are my very very favorite and I love them! Hope to continue to get one each year, if nothing else it forces us to do family pictures once a year :)

11. Snow: love it or dread it?
OK so here is where I go all Grinch on your butt, I HATE HATE HATE LOATHE the snow. Yes it's VERY pretty to look at (for about 4 hours or until the plow goes by, then it's grey mush crap), or if it's just a dusting. I LOVE seeing frosty snow covered trees, but let me get real here;
I've lived in Nebraska my whole 30 years of existence so I've dealt with a few blizzards in my time. 1) it's COLD. You do NOT want to take small children out in it. Plus lugging them around when it's icy and windy and snowing and cold is horrible and dangerous. 2)Driving in it is equal to diving with sharks. You might be careful but is everybody else around you?? You never know who could be driving like an idiot and slam into you, or accidentally hit ice and slam into. Throw kids in the car and your white knuckeling the whole time!
3)Cleaning it up. Shoveling SUCKS. Snow blowing is only slightly better. Unless it's rained for 12+ hours before it snowed therefore making the ground a complete ice skating rink and the snow weighs 239128 lbs almost impossible to move. It's a killer on the ol' back people. 4) your Hubby has a new job and HAS to go to work and gets stuck on your street twice, the last time for over an hour along with 4 other cars. It's just NOT fun people. The logistics of snow suck. Sure it's pretty to look at, and as long as you don't have anywhere to go until it's melted it's fine. But living with snow SUCKS. Sorry I just ruined everybody's life in warm climates. I've often dreamed of living somewhere warm 24-7 but I am an Omaha Girl at heart and will never leave!

12. Can you ice skate?
Yes if I have to. I'm sure one day when my girls are old enough to not break every limb I will take them. I used to go when I was like 15 with my best friend, but that was JUST for the boys that were there ;) (hmm wonder why NONE of them married me?? I was ever so graceful......NOT! Good thing Steve has never seen me ice skate)

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Cameron my CBD is pretty up there. But, I think my Christmas baby Ellie is by far the most amazing gift God ever blessed me with! I honestly love every present I get! I know I don't deserve them and knowing people took the time to think of me means so much!

14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Remembering that it isn't about Santa, or snow or food or presents or the other 29102389018 things American's do to distract themselves from Jesus. It's about HIM and making sure we are living up to his expectations and loving him through others. I hope to plant that seed in my Girls' hearts. I LOVE being with my family and just having a fun time!

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Homemade chocolate cheesecake. OMG it's amazing. We NEVER have it but it's amazing, soooo rich. A teeny tiny piece and your in chocolate coma for days.
And my Momma can make a mean pie. Oh it's heavenly. I hope she passes that down to me one day, I am still waiting. I just can't get the crust down.........

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
The Christmas Eve traditions with my side of the family. And trying to incorporate Ellie's Birthday into our celebrating. I promise to never forget her Birthday and will always try to make her feel loved and special!
I am also obsessed with Christmas MUSIC! I would play it year round but my Hubby would hate me for it (plus then it wouldn't be as special and I would get tired of it). So play lots and lots and lots of Christmas music 24/7 is so fun to me!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE looking at lights! Me and my friend Alanna have gone 2 years in a row to big expensive neighborhoods. Hailey is also obsessed with lights so it's fun looking with her! We like to get something fun to drink (starbucks peppermine hot chocolate, this year it was a shake at sonic!) and drive around with fun music on! It's my favorite!

17. What tops your tree?
A huge silver bow. I think all the angels out there are scary and devil looking. Seriously I'm a freak about them. Maybe one day I will get more creative but for now I love my bow!

18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving?
Giving! Especially to my girls. I know they LOVED all their special things they got for Christmas from the relatives but I think I picked out their very favorites! (of course I am w/ them 24/7 and would know what they play with more then anybody but whatever)

19. Candy canes: yuck or yum?
Eh they are yummy crushed up in hot chocolate! But I can't just sit there and eat a candy cane. It's not my fav

20. Favorite Christmas movie?
Oh I have tons! Of course I love the classics, Elf, Christmas Vacation, The Christmas Story, but I also love The Holiday, The Family Stone, & all the movies on Lifetime/Hallmark/ABC Family (seriously people I am a SUCKER for Christmas movies. This was the first year we didn't have cable and I almost died missing all the cheesey goodness :( ) But my ALL.TIME.FAVORITE. forever and ever is called All I Want For Christmas. Nobody has ever heard of it or seen it but it's awesome. It's super cheese, it probably helps that I was like 11 the first time I saw it and was madly deeply in LOVE with Ethan and my 2 best friends loved it so every year we would watch it!

21. Saddest Christmas song?
Saddest?? That is dumb, nobody likes sad Christmas songs. Some move me until I cry (SAP!) but I don't think they are sad. This ? is weird...........

22. What is your favorite Christmas song?
Do we really want to go there? I LOVE so many. I should just post every single song from my ipod on here so you get a better idea.........if you wanna know email me and I'll give you some to download for your listening pleasure ;)

Birthmas-UNO

So I've been MIA, obviously my little sweet miracle is here. I need to blog her birth story and the days before/after it will be long and boring but I want to remember every minute of everything. We'll see how long this takes me to get it all down and how many parts I break it up to. Anywho.........
MAJOR MAJOR TMI. Even worse then Hailey's birth story!!! Sorry in advance.........this is really only for me and my memory!!

So I'll start with one of the biggest parts of the story that has nothing to do with me and my pregnant self.
On Tuesday the 20th I got a frantic phone call from my Mom. That in itself is a big deal since she is always level headed and it takes a lot to get her riled up. She was saying that my brother was not feeling well the last couple weeks and went on to tell me all his weird symptoms and what was going on. I was confused and had no idea what was going on until she told me he hadn't had pop/caffeine in over 2 weeks. I thought he was just detoxing from the evil drug that is caffeine. It can do weird things to your body. The only thing that threw me off was he had a huge hard brick in his stomach. Seriously?? It was creepy. They came over to play w/ Hailey for a little bit and hang out and he was totally NOT himself and looked horrible. Long story short, the next day I got a call from my Mom and she ended up taking Andy to the DR and they ordered an ultrasound for him later that day. We were all super worried. It could have been a tumor, hernia, infection, or number of other things. I was a mess and prayed and prayed. Basically I could handle ANYTHING but a tumor. I finally got a call from my sister later that night and it turns out not only did he have a hernia but the "brick" in his stomach was a infected mass the size of a grapefruit. NOT good. He ended up going in for an emergency cat scan after the ultrasound to confirm the findings. They decided not to do anything that night and send him for outpatient surgery the next day with a specialist at a different hospital. Since he doesn't currently have a job OR health insurance this was supposed to be the better/cheaper way to go about it.
So Thursday they go to a consult with the surgeon and he says they are doing the surgery that night at 5:30 and admit him. Of course the surgery gets pushed way back and he doesn't end up going in until like 8pm. Long story short before the surgery a tech came in, and said he isn't sure how Andy is alive, much less walking and talking and no fever. He said with the mass of infection that size he should be VERY VERY sick. Crazy.
So they had to make a 10" incision, push his hernia back in, and remove the grapefruit size infected mass. They have no idea where the infection came from or how it started. They think it was there for a few weeks, and if he had left it untreated much longer it could have been VERY very bad. The surgeon who has done 1000's of these surgery's was totally perplexed. He had never seen anything like it. I guess Brother is a medical mystery!!! Weirdness runs in the family what can I say.......
So after all that drama he was admitted to the hospital and told he will NOT be leaving for awhile to make sure he stays safe from infection and heals properly. So Christmas in the hospital was NOT in the plans :( I was quite upset but knew we were lucky he didn't have tumor/cancer and it wasn't a big deal we would celebrate later. So Friday night I was finally able to go up to the hospital to see him. I was feeling great and visited for a couple hours and then went home to put Hay to bed.
Andy was stuck in the hospital until Monday when he got discharged. It was insane, my poor parents running all over the place. He is going to have a lovely hefty hospital/Dr bill but it will all get taken care of, and I am amazed by how much God's hand and protection was over the whole situation. Crazy! He is doing better now, not 100% but getting there!

So all that to say it didn't DIRECTLY effect me, my family yes. It was stressful and horrible. But we survived. It is all tangled into my birth story though. And something I will always remember and want to remember details one day!

So now onto my little princess..........starts at my 38 week apt. I saw yet another new midwife (there are 6 in the practice, 5 of which could deliver you. I eventually saw all 6 by the time I delivered but was kinda psycho about meeting them all first before delivery) Kate. While talking to her she told me based on my belly size she guessed the baby to be over 8 lbs. I freaked out. I was like no way I am not pushing out a 10 lb kid! She then felt the baby and said she changed her mind and thought it was more like low 7's. We laughed about it. My last couple of apts were depressing, nobody was very positive I would deliver before my due date and they even set up induction apts for Jan 13th. It was a blow and I was super upset every apt I left. I would call poor Steve crying.
So my 39 week apt (Friday the 23rd) I saw yet another new midwife Anita. I decided to have her check me and see if I was making any progress, and I decided to go out on a limb and ask to have my membranes swept. I was under the assumption that they wouldn't do that until I had gone past my due date. Well, I was WRONG! Thank GOD for Anita. She checked me and I was only at like a 1. She "stretched" me to a 3 and swept. OMG worst pain ever!! I was crying. I finally told her to stop. She made me bleed and said that was a good sign! When I left she asked if I was cramping and I said no and she said oh darn! Ha. She said she hoped I did soon as that would be a good sign it worked and the baby was coming soon! Boy did those cramps start. About 45 minutes after I left my apt I was having horrible period type cramps for about 3 hours.
Thank GOD Nat & Brian were off work, they were able to come stay w/ Hay during my apt since Mom was at the hospital w/ Andy. Like I said I went to the hospital that night and was feeling good, just tired from not sleeping the last couple nights and being huge and uncomfortable.

Saturday morning (Christmas Eve the 24th) I woke up feeling pretty good. Didn't sleep much that night but what else was new. Me and Hailey took a shower and I talked to my neighbor Eve about going to Target together to grab a couple things. I tried to eat some cereal for breakfast and it made me totally nauseous and I felt like I was about to puke everywhere. All the sudden I started having these HORRIBLE cramps super duper low in my pelvis. It was killer. I laid in bed on my side and they would not subside. Now mind you I don't really know what REAL contractions feel like since with Hailey I had pitocin and my body never really contracted on it own. So I had no idea what was going on, I just knew I was in horrible pain. Then I started shaking like mad. I remember that was exactly how I felt right before I had to push Hailey out. Shaking and nauseous. So I freaked. I called Eve and she said to go to the hospital. I still wasn't sure so I did what every girl does; called my Mommy. lol. She said that was exactly how she felt when I was born. Not really real contractions, shaking, and sick and I was born in an hour and half. So I freaked. I called the nurses line, it's SUPER annoying. You get a receptionist who asks you 3904832084 stupid questions. Then she sends your info off to a nurse who is on call at the hospital, they call you back and ask you the SAME 39402834 questions the other lady just asked. Really?? THEN if they deem it important enough they have one of the midwives call you back. So over an hour later Lydia finally calls me back. She was hesitant to have me come in, I don't think she thought I was in labor. Until I mentioned I was shaking uncontrollably. That is a major sign of needing to push so she told me to come in. So I called Nat and she came back over AGAIN. I felt so bad using my family when Andy was in the hospital and every one was all over the place and stressed out. But Steve's parents were in Michigan for Christmas. The only other good thing was that Megan made it from Denver so she met us up at the Hospital after we got there. I got admitted and of course by this time was feeling much better. Long story short Lydia (who was one of my FAVORITES I met at one of my earlier apts) checked me and I hadn't changed at all from my Friday apt. Seriously?? So she made me walk (NO stopping) for over an hour and drink loads of water. I did stairs like a mad woman and didn't stop moving except to get more water. And nothing. No more shaking, or cramps or anything. So after an hour of walking and stairs she checked me and no change. So I got sent home. :( I honestly never thought I would be THAT lady in labor who gets sent home. But since I was pretty much induced with Hailey and my body never got to do anything naturally on it's own I had no idea what real labor was or felt like. So it was kinda like my first pregnancy in my defense. lol.
So we hurried home and Meg went back to her Dad's. Hay was up from her nap and totally confused. We ended up going over to Nat's and then going to the hospital to eat dinner and kinda celebrate my Dad's birthday. I told him I tried to get the Baby out for his birthday but she wasn't having it ;) So we eat dinner and I start feeling like crap. Like I honestly thought I was getting the flu. Shaking and cold, my face was super bright red and I felt hot, I was super weak and nauseous again. It was horrible. Luckily for me Andy was sitting up in a chair eating his hospital food so I just laid in the hospital bed. lol. I felt bad using the bed but I couldn't sit or do anything and be comfortable. It was so bad. I've never felt so sick in my life. We opened a couple presents and I took Hailey home at like 8. I came home and had a migraine and still felt horrible. I put Hailey down for bed like 30 minutes early in hopes that I could go to bed and get some rest to feel better. Of course this is the night the child poops and wakes up 3 times crying and won't go to bed. She FINALLY is asleep and quiet and I am able to fall asleep at 10pm. So much for going to bed early. So I slept pretty good and hard until 11:30pm when I woke up with a small gush of water and soaking wet panties. I freaked out and knew my water was leaking. I didn't get any on the bed so I knew it wasn't a full on break, just a leak like it had been with Hailey. I also knew and had thought about it since I found out I was pregnant that if this happened again I wasn't going to rush off to the hospital right away like I did w/ Hailey, I wanted to stay home and start labor on my own. (I had been told by 2 different midwives in the office that they had time limits to get the baby out after your water broke. That worried me and I did NOT want a c-section or pitocin) So I went and changed my pants and woke Steve. He of course said to try to sleep more and see what happened. So off I went to bed with new panties and a pad on. Not even 2 minutes later those are soaked. I ended up going commando and using a towel between my legs. From 11:30pm-6:50am I went through 4 towels I was leaking so much. It was horrible. At about 2:30am the horrible low cramps started again. I tried to time them but it was kinda a joke. I would go 10 minutes w/out one, then have some 2 minutes apart. It was crazy. So at like 2:45 I woke Steve up again and told him I was contracting and hurting pretty bad and thought I should call and see what Lydia thought (lucky for me she was on call Christmas Day too!). He told me to wait until the morning and see what was going on then. FINE! lol. I wasn't to happy, as his little butt went back to sleep. Ha. So I called Megan. I didn't want to call my Mom and wake her up, not knowing if she was home or at the hospital and knowing she needed sleep! Meg said the same thing as Steve and to just wait until the morning. Didn't these people know I was in pain?!??! Ha. So I laid there and tried my hardest to sleep. I think I drifted in and out until like 6am at which time I couldn't wait any longer and finally caved and called the STUPID nurses line at 6:50am. I considered calling L&D and just asking for Lydia or a nurse but I decided to be proper and tell the stupid lady the answers to her 3940823948 questions that I already answered the day before. Sure enough I answered all her stupid questions only to have to wait for a stupid nurse to call me back and ask the SAME 39408234908 questions. (can you tell I hate this policy?? lol) Only this time I got a call right away back from the nurse, imagine that Christmas Day at 7am there isn't a wait. lol. So I talked to the nurse and luckily she had a brain and just put me on hold and called Lydia, she came back on the line and told me I was having a baby today and to go to the hospital! I was so excited. So I quick called Meg and told her to come over and follow us there. I woke Steve up and we made a plan for my Mom to come stay w/ Hay. Luckily she was at the hospital w/ Andy already so she was awake and dressed and like 10 minutes away. Of course then my husband decided to eat a lovely breakfast, AND take a shower. Don't even get me started. lol. Even my Mom was yelling at him to hurry up! It was funny. And I was of course doing dishes and cleaning my house. Isn't that what every woman in labor does?? So we finally got to the hospital at like 8:45am and got all checked in. So after we got settled in the room Lydia came back in and checked me and I was at a 4. I thought for sure after all the fluid I had lost and how many cramps/contractions I had I would be further along. But nope not my luck.

**Also I have to add when I went in on Christmas Eve my heart rate was like 121. Normal resting heart rate is like in the high 80's low 90's. So it was high but they weren't TOO worried. Every time she took it (4 or 5 times) it was in the 120's. I think the highest it got on the 24th was 127. On Christmas Day when they took it the first time it was like 130. Our AMAZING nurse Deb was super excited, she used to be an icu nurse and wanted to track me and put some weird probes on me and took it again. It came back even higher then the first time. Lydia came in laughing and said I was crazy and they ordered an EKG! Wow how exciting! Megan of course was totally fascinated and thought this was exciting too! Ha. Of course again since it was Christmas nobody was in the hospital so the guy was there in like 3 minutes. He hooked up different/more probes and took the test, I watched his screen and although I had no idea what I was looking at I think it topped out at 112. Why it dropped I have no idea. So funny. Again I am a medical mystery!! lol. Skipping ahead, after labor I took a bath and got dressed and sat down and the new nurse Donna took my blood pressure/heart rate and it came back at a whopping 150! LOL. It was quite exciting. I had like 6 or 7 nurses (I lost count) and they all knew I was the crazy heart rate girl and they didn't question it just went w/ it. It was funny. Such a weird thing! Mom and Dad told me Andy's was super high in the hospital every time they took it too. We must be way to anxious weird people who knows!

So after Lydia checked me and I got my EKG I got an IV. YUCK. It killed and I hated it the whole time it was in. Every time I moved my left arm it KILLED. Literally. I won't say it was as bad as the contractions but it was super duper uncomfortable and I think I would have felt a lot better had it not been in. But I digress, stupid strep B. So I got my antibiotics and went walking!! All 3 of us went to the cafeteria to get something for Meg and Steve to eat. I could have eaten but wasn't hungry at that point. So they ate and we hung out and talked and then Steve went back to the room and me and Meg did some more walking! We walked for like over an hour or 2? I forget. But we walked until it was time for my antibiotic was ready to come out. Thank heavens I didn't have iv fluids or have to be hooked to a pole this time! Soooo freeing and wonderful. So here is where things become fuzzy. I know contractions picked up a little. Oh when we were walking Meg's brother called and asked if she could come home for Christmas lunch. We told her to go ahead, it was going to be awhile since I was only at a 4-5 and if things picked up or changed we would call her and tell her to rush. So she left to go home and shower and see her family for a couple hours. Meanwhile we ordered room service and I had some chicken nuggets, fries and fruit. Oh how glorious to eat during labor and not be starving and have a dry mouth!!! So after we ate we just laid in the quiet. I couldn't sleep but just wanted to rest before things became more intense. After not sleeping at all the last 2 nights I was exhausted and I knew once the baby was here I wouldn't sleep through the night for a very long time! Oh how I wanted sleep but it wouldn't come, I was to anxious and excited to meet my princess!!
So after we rested for about 45 minutes Lydia came in again to check me. I was at a 6 and she asked if I wanted to fully break my water. I said yes.
*Must insert every time she checked me she would sweep more of my membranes. OMG the horror of that. It was horrible and painful and I would cry every time. She would always be doing it and I would have a contraction also. It was awful and sooooooo painful. I think I broke Steve's hand. He had to take his wedding ring off because I was squeezing his hand so hard. Bless him.

So Steve called Meg and told her to come sooner then later because they thought after they broke my water I would go pretty fast. This was at about 2pm. So right after she broke my water the contractions were HORRIBLE. Oh my they were soo intense, like the worst period cramps times 1000. They were less then 2 minutes apart and from start to finish they were lasting 90 seconds. So I really had about a minute to rest in between. We tried to walk the halls some more but it was far too painful. So I ended up getting in the tub. God bless nurse Deb she made is scorching hot just like I like it! They had jets so it did feel good for a little bit. But the contractions were so bad and hard nothing would help at that point.
Not long after I got out of the tub Meg came back. They got me dressed and in the rocking chair. Meg rubbed my head and back and told great stories.

**So I must tell her story she told. I told her when I found out I was prego I wanted her in the room knowing she would calm me down and make me laugh. I was in the worst part of the contractions and in transition so she asked me if I needed some comic relief. Lydia was sitting with us and trying to make me feel better and keep me calm during the contractions which was AHAMAZING. So I told Meg YES I needed something to distract me from the pain. She told me that a couple weeks ago when she and her b/f Andrew moved into their house together they went grocery shopping and did a big shopping trip together. He bought a bottle of shampoo and she yelled at him and asked why he needed ANOTHER bottle when he already had 5 in the shower. He mumbled something about needing it to wash his fruit. She was like "huh" and thought she heard him wrong. So they get home and he starts washing his GRAPES with the shampoo!! Meg freaks out and was like "what are you doing???" I guess his Mom washes fruit with shampoo so he does it too! LOL. It was hilarious me and Lydia are DYING. To funny. I told Meg to buy her own fruit and I need to email her a recipe I found online to make your own fruit wash ;) **

So the time between 2pm and about 4:30pm is one big painful blur. I was in the rocking chair for a LONG time and it was horrible. I think I got checked again at some point and was 8. So they told me to get in the tub and that it would help. I didn't really want to, it's a lot of work to get in and out and dry off and all that but they promised me I would feel better and it would take the edge off. So I did and again Meg and Lydia sat in the bathroom with me. I kept freaking out during the contractions. They were SOOO horrible, way worse then I remember them being with Hailey. The pain in my tailbone was the worst. I will never forget the pain. I was dying and in horrible pain and kept telling Lydia I couldn't do it anymore. I just wanted to be done and go to sleep and not be in pain anymore. I don't care what people tell you, when your in the middle of that kind of pain NOTHING anybody says will make it better. Not even thinking about your baby coming and being there soon. You just want to be done. N O W. It is horrible. I even joked at one point that I wanted drugs. Megan knowing I was NOT going to use anything got huge eyes and said "yes yes give her something!" totally serious. Lydia refused and I was joking and wouldn't have taken anything even if they offered. But trust me I do know and understand why people get an epidural. If I wasn't so against them and heard so many horror stories I would have been all over not feeling that pain.
When I was in the tub and dying Lydia told me if I felt like my body needed to push to do it and see how it felt. I did a couple times but it didn't feel natural and I just wanted relief. So I got out of the tub and dressed again and in the bed. They put the squatting bar on the bed like I asked and they told me to just lean on it and see how I felt and let my body push when I needed to. I think it was about 4:15pm or so by this time. So I just hung out until I had a contraction and then put my arm pits over the bar, and squatted on the bed putting all my weight on my feet. It was WAY different but felt good. It was weird, it was like my body just wanted to have a HUGE poop. Sorry for lack of a better phrase, but that is exactly what it was. It was such a great feeling to just let my body do it when it needed to and for how long it needed to! Nobody counting and making me do things that it didn't feel the need to do! So so so amazing. Again this is why I switched to a midwife instead of an OB sitting there texting on his phone the whole time!
I kept using the squatting bar for awhile, until I was so sore and couldn't use it anymore. Then I was in a weird sitting position on the bed, not laying but not really sitting. It's hard to explain. Nurse Deb had 1 leg and Meg had the other helping me. I was pushing with all my might and it was taking MUCH to long and to many pushes in my opinion. I wanted this baby out NOW! Steve asked if I wanted to tell Meg her name, if that would help but I didn't until she was out and on me. Then I would tell. How mean of me right? Ha. It was the one thing I had control of!
Finally after an hour and a half of pushing I started doing it effectively and her head was crowning. Holy moly. They call it the ring of fire for a reason. Honestly as her head started coming out I just wanted somebody to shove her back up in me and leave her there. I kept thinking that, just push her back in this is too horrible I am going to die! It sounds so weird, Hailey's birth was soooo traumatic and horrible, I think I blocked all the pain from my memory and only remember how horrible everything else was. I guess I couldn't handle remembering everything! This time though, it was amazing and wonderful but the most horrible painful thing I have ever done. Ha. It's such an oximoron but it's the truth. I couldn't have done it w/out Nurse Deb and Lydia, they were AMAZING and made it wonderful but it still sucked and I will never do it again. LOL. Sorry it's hard to explain! Too many emotions I guess.
So all that to say, her head finally came out and I was pretty sure I was never ever going to be able to go to the bathroom again. LOL. The things you think of as your baby is coming out of you, but honestly that is what I thought. It was soooo sharp and severe. I tried with all my might to listen to Deb and Lydia and stopped pushing when they said and only gave little pushes when they said. It was hard as heck but I knew they knew what they were doing/saying and I had to trust them. It was all worth it though, I didn't need stitches this time! Praise Jesus! Such an answer to prayer!!

OK so this is longer then a Harry Potter book I'm pretty sure. I'll leave off here, finish up later, tell her name and stats and post some pictures :)

Still Waiting..............

So this post will be all over. I am not really in the mood to write/post but I am bored out of my MIND today! I honestly think the bank loses $ by paying us to work the day after Christmas. It's pointless we are dead and there is NOTHING to do and to many workers! Ga. I am out of websites to look at and blogs to read. How depressing. lol.

First I'll start off with a recap of our Christmas and the last couple of days;
Steve woke up Wednesday (Christmas Eve) complaining of his throat killing him. He wasn't swollen and felt fine to me so I chalked it up to his sinus and told him to eat and drink something and take a hot steam shower and he would feel better. Of course he didn't feel better after all that and ended up staying home from work and laying around feeling yucky all day. I was so upset and sad. So I got off work at 2:30 and threw together some Jell-O for dinner at Mom's and laid around for about an hour and rested before I got ready for our church program. I got to church early and the kids practiced their songs and hung out waiting to go on stage. It was a little ciaos. They decided to move the stage around and put 9 million poinsettia’s where the kids were supposed to stand. Not good. Then we didn't have time to go out and practice on the new stage so the kids were totally confused and had no idea where to go or what to do. Ha. It was quite comical. They forgot the words 1/2 the time but they looked cute and it was highly entertaining. I would post the video but I'm sure parents would not appreciate me showing their Children to the world all over the internet where anybody could find it! So if you really feel like you need to see it email me and I'll see what I can do ;)
Steve stayed home from Church and laid around. I was almost in tears. I did not have the best attitude cuz I was so angry/upset/hurt. It wasn't at him just the situation and he always gets sick at the worst times. I was sooooooo upset! You have no idea. So after church I ran home got my Jell-O and went back to Mom and Dad's. Steve stayed home :*( Yeah that is when the crying starts. I wasn't handling spending Christmas Eve w/out my Hubby very well at all. And I wanted to stay and take care of him but I knew he would just go to bed in like an hour and then I would sit around and feel sorry for myself. Ha. So I hung out w/ Mom, Dad, and Andy. Ate Potato soup (OK I couldn't stay home w/ my Hubby cuz I would miss potato soup shoot me. lol j/k), and ham, and talked and had Birthday Cake for Daddy! It was so fun and time flew. Before I knew it was like 11 and I needed to get to bed! Baby girl LOVED all Grandma's cooking and she was jumping all over the place all night! It was hilarious. I've never felt her move so much before. I think she loves Christmas and Potato Soup to!
So I slept in Christmas Day and woke up to my Hubby feeling MUCH better and playing xbox. I crawled up in his lap and told him how sorry I was for my crappy Christmas Eve attitude and that I would be better and how much I missed him. He was so excited to open presents he was begging me to do it right then. I needed time to wake up so I made him wait an hour. lol. He is so impatient it was pretty cute. So we opened presents and he LOVED his popcorn popper I got him for his soon-to-be "man cave" basement :) And he spoiled me rotten! What other person knows me well enough to buy me slippers (aka slickers as I call them) and a LABELER! OMG I was in heaven! My whole entire house is going to be so friggin organized and labeled! Oh my goodness. Ha. I am psycho! But I seriously got so excited! He got me a couple Christmas cd's I had wanted b/c ya'll do not understand how obsessed w/ Christmas music I am! Honestly.
A little later we then we headed over to Momma and Dad's and helped get lunch ready and sat down to a feast! Now don't ask me what we ate I can not remember for the life of me! Some yummy delicious cut of steak (but not prime rib?? I don't remember!). It was heaven, and corn casserole, potatoes, more Jell-O, carrots, and breadsticks. Oh it was so yummy! So we stuffed ourselves again, and again Baby Girl was in heaven floppin all over the place. It was so sweet. Then us kids did the dishes for Mom and quick cleaned up so we could do presents! I got spoiled some MORE! Socks, a winter hat, robe, digital picture frame (which Steve is super excited about. That boy loves him some electronics), make up, and Steve gave me another present! The most amazing chair for our master bedroom where I can sit and feed Hailey! I am super excited! So it was a great time. Then we all watched
"Elf" because my Mom and Steve hadn't seen it before. Oh my we were crying from laughing so hard at some parts. To funny!!!!
Then we laid around some more and ate dinner of yummy ham sandwiches, and then we finally packed up all our stuff and went home! It was such a great Family day and we are so so so blessed! Sorry I never take many pictures, I will try to steal some from my BIL and post then on here later! :) I know ya'll want to see Momma's tree and all the food and my fat self that doesn't fit in her regular clothes anymore right? Ha
Now on to our house. As we speak Steve is doing the walk-through with the head builder manager guy and our rep from the company that is building our home. It it quite exciting! This time next week I will finally be a home owner! We close next Friday Jan 2nd, at 8am. I am so excited you have NO idea. I actually think I might make it and I can actually see us living there now! Ha. YES!!! We're really really excited and trying to get organized and find help to move. It really stinks that I am out of commission as I usually run around like a mad woman getting everything done and organized. It will be so hard to just stay around and unpack boxes (which I have been told I am NOT allowed to lift any so they all better get taken to the right places!), and tell other's what to do. :/ I don't give out instructions well; I'm not a boss so we'll see how this goes. I plan on mainly working on the kitchen and bathrooms so hopefully that will keep me busy! We are truly blessed by great families and I know we can count on them to help us! We are also blessed as so far the 10 day weather planner is saying a high of 35 and sunny for the day we plan to move! Plus it will be in the 40s all week before so we should have no snow and no ice! Praise God such an answer to prayer! Of course it could change between now and then but I really hope not! So with out further ado here are some pictures of the house pretty much completed!

Looking from the living room to the hall way/front door. The 1/2 wall to your left is what is over the stairs going down to the "man cave"

My BEAUTIFUL kitchen! I am so excited to cook and even clean dishes in my OWN kitchen again! lol we'll see how long it lasts for ;)

Close up of the sink. I have never ever had a stainless sick or such an awesome faucet. Yes we're geeks we were playing w/ the water. lol

View of our bedroom from the doorway. You can kinda see the carpet it's dark tan/Brown. I <3>

Probably my 3rd Favorite room in the whole house (after the kitchen and Bean's nursery). Our HUGE walk-in closet. So glad we decided to go with extra shelving!

Our Bathroom sinks in the master bathroom. We are so excited. Hopefully we can get along and share a bathroom ;)

And now for a totally random picture. Steve's Mom totally went crazy and is spoiling our child rotten! This girl is gonna be so well dressed. A couple things we had already recieved (the gorgeous Green sweater hand knit by Steve's Aunt Dawn! I LOVE IT!) , but most of this is just from Christmas!!! So crazy.

Traditions.............

So in catching up in all my blog reading lately one of my favorite topics is how you and your family celebrate Christmas and the Birth of our Savior. My other favorites are when people post pictures of all thier Christmas decorations. I found a picture of our tree all decorated from last year, of course I don't have one this year as I don't have a house. So my tree, stockings, nativity scene, and beautiful wreath are all packed away until Next November :( I am seriously considering having Christmas in like July or August just so I get my stuff out and decorate and take pictures (and having my OWN kitchen w/ all my bake/cookwear and baking Holiday goodies!). But I don't suppose 95 degree Nebraska weather will be very festive huh? I digress..........so I'll go on and on about my family and our wonderful Christmas traditions.
This honestly is my favorite time of year. I LOVE it. I start at the beginning of November by listening to some great local radio stations that play Christmas music 24/7 until December 26th. It's so great! I love going to the stores and seeing garland and trees up with red bows. Oh it puts me in a great mood and motivates me to shop early and get everything out of the way so I can enjoy it. I LOVE decorating, putting up the tree, silvery candles, pine cones, oh I love it all! One of my favorite things in this season to do is to go around various neighborhoods and look at Christmas lights while playing Manheim Steamroller on the car cd player. Seriously it's like the greatest thing ever. My Dad used to do it to us when we were little and you better believe I am going to drag my kids out in their jammies and do it to them to! Steve hasn't quite caught on to this Becky Tradition but we'll get him there no worries!
So on to actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Now first of all you must know that Christmas Eve is one of the greatest days EVER of all time. Why you ask? Because that is the day my Daddy was born. He hates this. More then the plague. Growing up as a child he got the shaft and would get Christmas presents wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper that people would try to pass off as Birthday presents. This did NOT go over well. I specifically remember him telling us that his Grandma would send him socks, underwear and t-shirts every single year from California for his Birthday/Christmas present combined. So if we're feeling extra feisty one year somebody will buy him some socks and underwear. It's pretty hilarious to see the expression on his face. Anyways, so it's a VERY big deal we get him separate presents wrapped in BIRTHDAY wrapping paper nothing even slightly resembling Christmas wrapping :) We celebrate his Birthday in the afternoon and give him presents and do whatever he requests. lol he can be quite demanding! Anyways, then Christmas eve night is our BIG family Christmas night. It's super fun and special! We usually go to somebody's church (my parents go to a different church then me and my sis and brother) for the Christmas Eve candle lit service which I just LOVE. Nothing says Christmas like praising God with our voices of praise! It usually makes me cry (I am such a freaking emotional person even non pregnant) and puts me in such a great mood! Then we go home and have Mommy's home made cream of potato soup. Oh my it's amazing. I think if there were one year we didn't have it I would cry my eyes out. It's been our staple Christmas Eve food for over 20 years. I love it! The fixins' with the soup can change but the soup MUST be present. Even my extra super picky Hubby is in love w/ Mommy's potato soup! Lately the fixings have been a scrumptious jello salad, relish trey, and ham sandwiches. Oh my it's so amazing! Add the welch's sparkling grape juice and call me good to go! I LOVE it! Probably the best and my most favorite night of food all year. Seriously people. So we eat and shove our faces, by low lighting and candles mind you, I LOVE it. And then we all help clean up quickly so we can go and open all our presents! It's fun usually Dad puts on the ugly ol Santa hat and hands out the gifts. It always starts of one person at a time going and everybody else watches but after a couple minutes we get tired of that and we're all opening things at the same time. But I LOVE it cuz Dad always wants to know what everybody gets (it's so great, he bought it less then 2 weeks ago, wrapped it and has already forgotten what it is. Seriously cracks us up he has to see what your opening and wants to know what it is like he hasn't seen it before. Then maybe he will remember it's so cute I love how excited he gets it totally wears off on us kids). It's pretty fun. After presents we hang out and gather up all the trash and play/look at all our great loot!
On Christmas day we're pretty lazy, we sleep in, don't get dressed until like noon and then eat a big meal. Honestly Christmas Day isn't a big deal for my Family we do everything mainly on Christmas Eve. Last year me and Steve stayed home and opened presents we got each other, ate some left overs and I think I made a nice dinner and we watched movies and took naps. It was lovely. Some years Mom will make a big ham lunch and we'll go over and sometimes she doesn't it all just depends. Is any of this making sense or am I all over the place?? Anyways, so yeah Christmas Eve is special and I LOVE it and I LOVE my family and being with them and I LOVE that we celebrate the Savior's Birth!! Being pregnant myself I can only imagine how Mary was feeling, in pain, cold, on a Donkey, and had to go to a smelly cold barn and deliver her Baby with only her Husband there for support and help. How scary! But seeing that Baby and knowing how special he was and still is made it all go away I'm sure :) I am so so thankful!
This year is going to be WAY different. I'm really sad. It turns out that my Mom has to WORK on Christmas Eve :*( This is a major deal. Ha. Not really she only has to work like 1/2 a shift and will be off by 7 but it's still sad. She has promised to make the potato soup and keep it on low on the stove so we can eat it before she gets home and then she will join us when she gets off work. Also it turns out that Brian's (BIL) family is getting together Christmas Eve and they are going to go over and celebrate with him. It's fine I will just miss Sissy and her Hubby Christmas Eve! So our night will start out with me, Steve, Dad, and Andy meeting at my church to see the Christmas program. I have been teaching a couple girls every Sunday night since Early September 3 Christmas songs. I am so proud of these girls and their beautiful voices singing praises to God. I LOVE it! I am sooooooo excited to see them up there in front of the whole sanctuary singing their voices out! It should be quite entertaining :) They are so cute. So after church the 4 of us will go home and eat and hopefully Mom will be home soon! Then I think we will just hang out and maybe watch tv or relax or wahtever! Then we will have a big lunch and open all the presents Christmas Day. This is weird to me but I am going with it cuz I want everybody to be there together when we do! I'm sure Steve will give me a present Christmas eve seeing as how the boy can not wait at all. LOL.
Another cool tradition we started last year was that each person in the family has to buy a $5 gift and wrap it. We each start out with a present in hand, doesn't matter what it is just 1 present for each person. Dad reads The Christmas Story from the Bible and every time he says a certain word like IT or AND (it has to be a common word not something weird that won't be said very often) and you pass the present to the person sitting to your right every time the word is said. By the end of the story you open your present! We had to fudge a little last year and switch so we didn't open what you bought. DUH. It's super fun and we laughed the entire time and got to hear the real Christmas story!
So yeah we're really not as traditional as I thought we were some things are flexible but we always make sure to be together and always eat our potato soup ;) I LOVE this time of year and hearing your stories. So tell me! Wither it was growing up, what you do w/ your spouse/kids now, if you get together with family it's all special and I love to know! I like stealing other people's ideas for our family as it grows I want to pass along some of these great things to our children and cherish the memories forever!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Our tree, stockings, and nativity scene in 2006. Blah HATE the bare white walls so boring! (also notice there is a missing tree skirt. Yeah the Dog chewed it up and I was NOT happy)

Tree in '07. More ornimates, a new tree, a SKIRT!, and lots of presents. Oh I miss it! I think next year I am going to do red instead of all the blue what do you think??
